Who
is your husband's prayer warrior?
By
Lady Brenda Likely
Over 4 years ago, I woke up vexed in my Spirit. The more I tried
to ignore it, the more troubled I became. Although I went to work,
I couldn't focus on my daily tasks. I knew that God was stirring,
but I didn't know what or why. I took a few hours off from work
so that I could go home to pray and meditate. It was at that time
that the Holy Spirit brought back to my remembrance a dream that
I'd had the night before, and began to give me revelation of that
dream.
The setting of my dream was in our home. My father-in-law placed
a box on the ground, and told me to open it. He informed me that
there were some generational curses that wanted to run rampant in
my husband and my children. After he sat the box on the ground,
he also got on the ground and began laughing at me, and telling
me to open the box. I didn't know what to do, other than to call
on the name of Jesus. I began to pray in the Holy Ghost, and plead
the blood of Jesus over my household. My dream ended with me praying
and giving God the praise.
After seeking God, he revealed to me how powerful and needful my
prayers were for my husband and my children. God showed me that
although generational curses are real, believers do not have to
walk in them. The reason that my father-in-law kept asking me to
open the box is because the devil does not have any power of his
own; yet God gives us power through his son, Jesus Christ to see
and rebuke the attacks of the enemy. That's why he didn't open the
box and wanted me to open it - he was hoping that I would unleash
the curses in my household. God continued to show me that I needed
to keep my husband and family in prayer - that I needed to be his
"prayer warrior".
As a mature
Woman of God, God will reveal to you areas in your husband's life.
God does not reveal to you his areas of lack for you to point them
out to him and tell him what he should do about them. God shows
you those areas for you to know what areas you need to intercede
on his behalf. Tell God about it. Tell God that you see an area
that will hinder him in his walk with him, and ask God to manifest
Himself in your husband's life. Then, sit back and patiently wait
on God to move in the spiritual realm. It took me a long time to
learn this life lesson, and I'm getter better at it everyday.
The challenges come when we try to fix it. I'd like to share a brief
testimony with you. My husband hasn't always known how to talk openly
with his sons, because he didn't have that type of relationship
and communication with his natural father (generational curses that
I spoke of earlier). There have been many occasions where I've told
him that he needed to do this or shouldn't do that. Then, I would
become frustrated and lose focus when I didn't see a change. I was
trying to do it. I began taking that situation to God, regardless
of how emotional I would get when a situation arose. Then, I looked
around one day and God had shown up and shown out! I didn't know
exactly when the change occurred, but I knew that it was God that
changed him.
As believers, we are fighting a war, a spiritual war. There are
times when our spiritual walk is a matter of life or death. Daily
we are faced with the fiery darts the enemy throws at us. Woman
of God, don't be fooled. Don't sit back and wait on the prayer line
to come around for someone to pray for your husband. Don't wait
for your pastor or his wife. You know him a lot better than they
do. Don't wait for a situation to occur to go to God on his behalf.
And please, don't pray selfish prayers, but pray for things that
take him to a higher level in God. Not only will it help him to
be a better priest, provider, and protector of your home, but God
will elevate you in your walk with Him and strengthen your relationship
with your husband.
Woman of God, profess to the world that you are your husband's prayer
warrior. Boldly walk in that God given role with confidence that
you have the victory through Christ Jesus!
